Teen Gets 10-Year Jail For Raping, Impregnating 11-Year-Old Sister Right Under Parents' Noses

A teenager from Missouri has been sentenced to jail after he admitted to repeatedly raping and impregnating his 11-year-old sister.

Norvin L. Lopez-Cante, 18, was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to statutory rape and incest. Lopez- Cante, who was also initially charged with sodomy, admitted that he had sexually assaulted the girl approximately 100 times, reported St. Louis Post Dispatch.

The minor girl gave birth to a premature baby boy in a bathtub at her St. Charles home on Feb.11, 2020, and the newborn baby was later taken to a hospital.

The police charged the victim’s parents Lesbia Cante, 36, and Francisco J Gonzalez- Lopez, 39, on charges of endangering the welfare of a child as they reportedly failed to seek medical attention for the girl after she gave birth, according to an earlier report from the outlet.

The police started the investigation after Gonzalez- Lopez initially told them that the baby was his and had been dropped off on their porch by an ex-girlfriend.

The victim’s parents later told the police that their daughter gave birth to the baby. However, they claimed that they were unaware that she was pregnant or that she was being sexually assaulted by her brother, according to the probable cause statement, reported news outlet NBC News.

The officials had reportedly placed a hold on all three defendants as they had entered the country illegally from Guatemala. However, the minor girl was born in the United States and has been placed under foster care since the incident.

“Sometimes I wonder how life would be if this had never happened,” the minor victim told Lopez-Cante in court Monday.

The prosecutor said that Gonzalez-Lopez has been deported after the incident but his case is pending in St. Charles County. Cante’s case is set for a plea hearing on April 28 and was released from jail in July.

The court dismissed the sodomy charges against Lopez-Cante as part of the plea agreement. Circuit Judge Jon Cunningham ordered him to a 10-year sentence for statutory rape and a concurrent four-year term for incest. His lawyer said Monday that Lopez-Cante is also likely to be deported owing to the convictions.
