A man in Nashville, Tennessee, in an attempt to escape gunfire, jumps out of his apartment window with his 2-year-old child.

According to the police, the man, whose identity was not revealed, jumped out of his apartment's back window while holding his 2-year-old child to escape gunshots that were fired at him. The incident took place in an apartment building in the 6000 block of Old Hickory Blvd in the Hermitage neighborhood.

The police said an unknown man, fired shots at the victim while he was inside the apartment with his child. Luckily, he was not hit and managed to escape through the window.

Once outside the apartment, the victim managed to get himself and the child to the 600 block of Debbie Drive, where the police later found them. They were rushed to a nearby hospital as they suffered injuries during the escape.

The medical authorities later told police that the father suffered a puncture wound to his foot from broken glass. The child too suffered minor puncture wounds from the glass to the back. The duo was reported to be recovering from non-life-threatening injuries.

The police have not yet identified the suspect. The motive behind the shooting is also unknown. It is also unclear where the mother of the child was in the apartment when the shooting occurred.

The Metro Nashville Police registered a case and were conducting a detailed investigation. It was an ongoing investigation, and no further details were revealed at the moment.

In a similar incident, an 11-year-old boy who was held as a hostage inside a home in a neighborhood just west of John Barrow Road in Little Rock, Arkansas, was shot dead. The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Brent Martin, later during a confrontation with the police, was shot dead.

In another incident, a Virginia man was shot by deputies after the man who threatened to kill his father using a chainsaw attempted to shoot a deputy during a standoff. The suspect, identified as 25-year-old Joshua Sprouse, was later transferred to a nearby hospital where he underwent surgery.
