Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy criticized the Trump administration for not providing more assistance to the country as tens of people died following heavy Russian strikes.

Speaking to press, Zelenskyy called on Washington to "open Starlink for Ukraine." "I've said quite openly — give it to us, help us defend our skies and dominate there. And then Putin will sit down at the negotiating table."

He went on to make reference to recent remarks from Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who said on Thursday that the war is at a stalemate and Washington will continue working toward a deal.

"So where's the truth here, where's the honesty? Where's the stalemate?" Zelenskyy wondered, saying "that's called unwillingness."

At least 70 people died in Ukraine over the past two days as a result of Russian attacks. Zelenskyy said over 200 have been wounded as well.

Moscow is also targeting key Ukrainian infrastructure ahead of the winter. Ukraine's state grid operator Ukrenergo imposed emergency power cuts in Kyiv and three surrounding regions earlier this year, marking the first such emergency restrictions in the capital since spring.

"Since summer, there's barely been a day without an attack on our energy infrastructure," Prime Minister Sergii Koretskyi said, adding that Ukraine had not experienced a combined energy attack of this magnitude since the end of the previous heating season.

Ukrainian officials have warned for months that Moscow could again concentrate attacks on electricity and heating systems during winter, when damage to the grid can have particularly severe consequences for civilians.

Last winter, Russian attacks severely damaged Ukraine's energy and heating infrastructure during periods of record-low temperatures, forcing households and businesses to cope with prolonged disruptions.

Ukraine had already been working to reinforce its energy network before the latest assault. Zelenskyy met with European Bank for Reconstruction and Development President Odile Renaud-Basso to discuss winter preparations and additional support for the energy sector, including efforts to increase and protect electricity generation.

Zelenskyy said that Kyiv was preparing new talks with allies focused partly on air defense, particularly protection against ballistic missiles and increasingly sophisticated Russian drones.

Russia has repeatedly denied deliberately targeting civilians even though its missile and drone campaign have repeatedly stricken cities and civilian infrastructure throughout the war.
