Tesla (TSLA) will no longer accept orders for its Cybertruck outside North America, according to its website.

Reservations for the electric truck can now only be placed in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, the website said. Orders were previously being taken for the Cybertruck in Europe and Asia.

While there was no official word from Tesla why reservations for the Cybertruck are now limited to North America, CEO Elon Musk told Financial Times at its “Future of the Car Conference” on May 10 that total vehicle demand has exceeded production to a “ridiculous degree.”

Musk, who has a net worth of $213 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, continued by saying, “We are actually probably going to limit or just stop taking orders for anything beyond a certain period of time because some of the timing [for delivery of new orders] is more than a year away.”

Musk also told Financial Times, “We have more orders of the first Cybertrucks than we could possibly fulfill for three years after the start of production.”

Production of the Cybertruck will begin at the Tesla Gigafactory in Austin, Texas, in the first quarter of 2023. Tesla debuted the truck in 2019 but production has been delayed amid COVID restrictions and a focus on its Model Y.

Reservations of the Cybertruck are estimated at 1.5 million, according to Electrek.
