A Texas man who has been arrested for murdering his newlywed wife admitted to decapitating the 21-year-old woman at their home in Waller County, Sheriff's office said.

Deputies responded to the couple's cabin home at around 4:35 p.m., Wednesday, after the suspect's parents, who lived in the adjacent main house, found the body of the victim, Anggy Diaz.

"It was a portion of a body, dismembered, and a residence that was covered in blood — a gruesome scene, at best," Sheriff Troy Guidry told the reporters, as reported by the NY Post.

The couple had married on Oct. 21. The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Jared Dicus, was taken into custody for the murder.

Dicus stayed at the scene after the brutal killing until the cops arrived and confessed to the murder during interrogation, according to the police. Officials also recovered a knife believed to be used in the murder at the property with Diaz's severed head.

"Evidence shows the suspect used a kitchen knife," Guidry reportedly said.

Police believe that Diaz was murdered at around 11 p.m. the night before her remains were discovered.

Meanwhile, officials said they are still in the early stages of the investigation and the exact motive behind the brutal killing is yet to be determined. Dicus is likely to face murder charges, reports said.

A neighbor said he never thought something horrific would happen but had heard about the suspect making strange social media posts last week. "He was just never the crazy one. Never the type to do something violent. He protected those he loved and cared about," the neighbor reportedly told ABC News.

Ruth Armendariz, Diaz's manager at Chepes Meat Market Taqueria remembered her as "a wonderful person, intelligent and hard-working."

Armendariz said Diaz was not happy about the marriage with Dicus and had shared her concerns. "She was not happy. She said he was a different person before the marriage and a different person after. He became very jealous," Armendariz reportedly told Click 2 Houston.

There have been disturbance calls made to the suspect's parents' home in the past, as per ABC News.
