A Texas man has been arrested for murdering a woman and dismembering her body. The 26-year-old man, from Shelby County, killed the victim as a "satanic sacrifice," an arrest affidavit revealed.

Ethan Myers, of Joaquin, was arrested Monday for allegedly murdering 36-year-old Sarah Hopson and dismembering her body inside a home.

Officers arrived at the scene after receiving reports from two individuals, Allen Price and Teresa Louviere, that Myers had "done something" to the woman. While conducting a welfare check on Nov.13, they found Hopson's body wrapped in a carpet inside a bedroom, KSLA 12 News reported.

Hopson had large wounds to the head and forehead. She died of blunt force trauma, police said. Her dismembered body parts were found in a freezer bag near the corpse, reported CBS 19.

Myers' mother told cops her son was found hiding in the woods Sunday evening after the murder, according to the arrest affidavit. The man reportedly told her he killed Hopson because she wanted him to "sacrifice her." The mother also added that Myers "hears voices and is satanic."

It is unclear how the suspect and the victim knew each other. Myer's mother told cops she did not know who Hopson was when her son confessed to her about the murder.

While executing a search at the residence, officers noticed that the bedroom was freshly painted and there was evidence of blood spatters inside the bedroom. Officials also found a shovel, several plastic bags, a hammer and a large rock that was possibly used to assault the victim.

During interrogation, Price and Louviere said Myers took part in cult activity. However, it is unclear how they both knew Myers. Price and Louviere were taken into custody for tampering/fabricating physical evidence with intent to impair (human corpse). They have a $250,000 bond each.

Myers was charged with murder and evading arrest. His bond was set at $1.25 million Tuesday.
