  • Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene are willing to do another installment in the “Twilight” movie series
  • Co-star Jackson Rathbone did not reveal if he was down to film a possible sixth movie in the series
  • Author Stephenie Meyer released “Midnight Sun” last year, more than a decade after several chapters of it were leaked

Almost a decade after “The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn, Part 2” hit theaters and concluded the run of the blockbuster movie series, film stars Kellan Lutz and Ashley Greene have revealed that they are open to making another sequel that would be based on the last book in the franchise.

The 36-year-old Hollywood actor and the 34-year-old actress attended the Chicago Comic and Entertainment Expo (C2E2) Saturday, and during their panel appearance, the idea of a movie based on the fifth book that author Stephenie Meyer released in 2020 titled “Midnight Sun” was brought up.

“I mean, I love that one. I so wish we could make a movie with that. Emmett has so many more funny lines in that one. It’s awesome,” Lutz, who played the super-strong vampire Emmett Cullen in the movies, was quoted as saying by Entertainment Tonight Canada.

Greene, who played the role of clairvoyant Alice Cullen, concurred with her former co-star about revisiting the franchise one last time through a possible adaptation of the latest “Twilight” novel.

“Midnight Sun” is not a prequel to the main story as it simply retells the events of “Twilight” from the point of view of Edward Cullen, played by Robert Pattinson in the movies, instead of Bella Swan, who was played by Kristen Stewart.

Meyer actually started writing the fifth book back in the 2000s. However, she halted the writing process in 2008 after learning that the first 12 chapters of her tome had been leaked online. She only got back to finishing the novel years later and finally released it last year, as per The Guardian.

At the expo, Lutz was also asked about his favorite movie in the franchise. He shared that the two-part “Breaking Dawn” was his favorite, but a big-screen adaptation of “Midnight Sun” could easily surpass it.

This wouldn’t be a surprise to the actor’s fans since he has been very vocal about his interest in the fifth book on social media. When it was officially released in August last year, he quickly grabbed a copy and showed it off on Instagram.

“It’s here, it’s finally here @midnightsuntwilightsaga. I love learning more about Emmett while reading this book and Edward’s thoughts! So good!” he captioned the post.

Jackson Rathbone, 36, who played Jasper Hale in the movie series, was also present at the panel, according to Us Weekly. However, he did not reveal if he was open to filming another installment.
