The Tom Cruise "wife audition" rumors are swirling once again. Reports of wife casting by the Church of Scientology spiked in July when an unknown actress, 27-year-old Yolanda Pecoraro became targeted for the role of "Wife #4" for Tom Cruise. While many scoffed at the idea of a wife casting call, another unknown actress, Nazanin Boniadi is stirring the pot.

Nazanin Boniadi became an overnight sensation, and it's not because of her guest spots on "CSI" or her brief romance with Barney Stinson on "How I Met Your Mother." It's because the Iranian beauty is the name linked to the highly anticipated Vanity Fair article about the Tom Cruise wife recruitment in 2004.

In the upcoming Vanity Fair article, Boniadi explains that has a member of the Church of Scientology, the was recruited by Scientology leaders, and spent a month auditioning for the role. During that month, Boniadi exposed personal secrets and information about her sex life before gaining the approval of high ranking Scientology officials, and dating the "Mission Impossible" actor from November 2004 to January 2005.

According to Vanity Fair, the reason for the short lived relationship is that the actress just didn't fill the shoes of a future Mrs. Tom Cruise. Because she didn't land the coveted role, the article reports that Boniadi was punished. Allegedly the aspiring actress was forced to scrub toilets with a toothbrush, dig ditches in the middle night and sent to street corners to sell the L. Ron Hubbard book "Dianetics."

With these recent wife audition allegations filling the spotlight again, the rumor of Yolanda Pecoraro as the frontrunner for wife #4 does not seem so far off.

Like Boniadi, Pecoraro is already a devout Scientologist. RadarOnline reported back in July that unlike wife #3, Katie Holmes, Cruise's next wife will be from inside the church. Pecoraro already has a lead on nailing the role though. According to Andrew Morton, the author of "Tom Cruise: An Unauthorized Biography," Pecoraro and Cruise met in 2004 at the opening of a new Scientology Center in Spain. The pair were photographed with Scientologist leader David Miscavige, and were even spotted with David and Victoria Beckham at a soccer game in Madrid.

The rumor about Pecoraro, was that her relationship with Cruise was being strictly arranged by the Church of Scientology in the wake of the Katie Holmes divorce. According to RadarOnline, the church found the situation embarrassing, and wanted it "stabilized" immediately.

Before Pecoraro became the name associated with Tom Cruise's wife auditions, wife #3, Katie Holmes was a target. In April of 2005 Holmes flew from New York to Los Angeles to meet with Tom Cruise about a role in "Mission Impossible 3." The actress was not spotted or heard from again until 16 days later when she resurfaced as Cruise's girlfriend. After her divorce announcement in June, rumors circulated that Katie Holmes had signed a contract, forcing her to remain married to the actor for five years and receiving financial incentives for mile marks like anniversaries and children.

The Yolanda Pecoraro and Tom Cruise audition rumors have died down since mid July...but why? Did the pair never rekindle their romance? Is the Church of Scientology using this time to train or brainwash her? Or like Boniadi, is Pecoraro being punished for not being the right gal for the role of wife #4?
