KEY POINTS

  • Tom Hardy made $7 million for his role in "Venom"
  • He is rumored to be the next James Bond
  • Hardy has an estimated net worth of $30 million

Tom Hardy is one of the most bankable actors today and he could be in line for the next James Bond movie.

Hardy has built his resume over the years as one of the most bankable actors and also one of the most talented. He appeared in movies that are not only physically challenging but also mentally enticing. This makes him the perfect replacement for Daniel Craig as the next James Bond.

Craig revealed in an interview with GQ that “No Time To Die” will be his fifth and last time playing the iconic British spy. The actor first featured in the franchise as a 37-year-old in 2005, and now with five films in, millions of earnings and with his advanced age at 52 years old, he decided that it’s time to find a replacement. Finding a new Bond is always difficult, the role is not just for everyone. He has to have the appeal, the smarts and a fit body to stand all the risky stunts Bond has been known for. Hardy fits all the criteria and then some.

The only issue with the “Venom” actor doing the next Bond movie is that he does not have to do it. His net worth is around $30 million, per Men’s Health, and he will never run out of interesting project offers. As the next James Bond, he could be lined up for three, four, five or more movies and at 43 years old, it just might not be a good choice at this point of his career. On the other hand, James Bond is James Bond and any actor who gets to play the role is an opportunity that is hard to pass up. Even the lucrative side of it. Craig earned $25 million for “No Time To Die” while Hardy pocketed $7 million for making “Venom” in 2018.

While he only made $7 million for “Venom,” the movie went on to make $853 million worldwide, triggering a second movie that will be released in 2021, which will also star Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams and Naomi Harris, among others. Hardy’s pay for the next “Venom” release is expected to be bigger, owing to the success of the first film. This is on top of bonuses from the total earnings of the movie.

Hardy’s film credits could only be dreamed of by other actors. His past films include "Inception," "The Dark Knight Rises," “Mad Max: Fury Road,” “Venom,” "Dunkirk," “Bronson,” “Legend,” and “The Revenant,” among others. According to Celebrity Net Worth, the Hammersmith, London, England native also has theater acting under his belt. He won the London Evening Standard Theater Award for Outstanding Newcomer in 2003.

Throughout his career, Hardy proved he can become effective in a starring or supporting role and his talent shines no matter the genre. There is no doubt he can carry the Bond franchise in the next few years, the only question is if he would accept the iconic role.
