Tori Spelling is clearing the air after facing backlash for her controversial April Fools' Day pregnancy prank.

Spelling shared a snap of herself cradling her tummy on Instagram Thursday with the caption: "No. 6." The "90210" alum shares five children—Liam, 14; Stella, 12; Hattie, 9; Finn, 8 and Beau, 4—with husband Dean McDermott.

But while some congratulated her, other social media users criticized Spelling for her "tone-deaf" joke about a "sensitive" issue for "millions of women who struggle with infertility or who've had a miscarriage," per E! News.

Spelling took to Instagram a day after April Fools' to clarify that she is indeed not pregnant and to explain the reason behind her post. Apparently, it was her way of getting back at the press.

"Every week, magazine and press outlets ask if I am pregnant. To set the record straight, I am not," Spelling wrote Friday. "The fact is, after my fifth baby, my body didn't bounce back like it had before. That's when the constant questions of 'yet another' pregnancy first began. Unless you're in the public eye, it is hard to understand what it feels like to be body shamed so publicly."

Spelling said that due to the non-stop questions regarding whether or not she was expecting, she felt the need to defend her body. However, she made it clear that she did not intend to take lightly the struggles of those who are unable to get pregnant or have miscarried.

"I know that pregnancy is an extreme blessing. And I would never intentionally poke fun at losing a child or not being able to carry one. I myself have miscarried," she continued. "My post was simply to turn tables for once on the press. They constantly create wild and often hurtful stories about me, my body, and my family."

Spelling acknowledged those who were hurt and offer love, virtual hugs and support. She encouraged them to share their stories and said she will try her best to extend support to them.

Spelling also received love and support from her fans and followers, who said they were proud and happy with the way she handled the issue. Many also praised her for being "strong and amazing."

"Love you Tori," Veena Goel Crownholm commented.

"So much love for you," Amberly Lago wrote.

"You’re amazing and beautiful inside and out. Anyone who posts this about you should be ashamed about themselves. Absolutely disgusting. Sending you love lady," Emily Lyons added.
