  • Juventus reportedly joined the race for Chelsea target Aurelien Tchouameni
  • Tchouameni may draw more suitors in the next transfer window
  • Chelsea may be looking to have Tchouameni replace an exiting midfielder after this season

Chelsea FC remains strong so far this season, but this will not prevent them from targeting more talent. One player the Blues reportedly plans to pursue again is AS Monaco's Aurelien Tchouameni.

Chelsea is "ready to accelerate" a move for the 21-year-old French player with an attractive proposal amid Juventus' interest in Tchouameni, according to Tuttomercatoweb journalist Niccolò Ceccarini. International Business Times could not independently verify this information.

One of Blues coach Thomas Tuchel’s midfielders could leave next summer when his current contract expires. Tchouameni could take over, but Chelsea would have to beat Juventus for the French defender's signature, the report said.

Tchouameni has proven his worth after cracking the French national team. In the eyes of pundits, the French defender is evolving into a big star despite his young age.

Aside from that, Tchouameni has been performing well in Ligue 1 since 2018 while playing with Bordeaux, before moving to Monaco in 2020, Sports Illustrated noted.

The Blues being linked to Tchouameni hardly comes as a surprise. He was said to be on Chelsea's radar during the summer transfer window.

However, the team decided not to sign him in the end as the Blues would prefer to see Tchouameni gain more experience in the Ligue 1 before making an offer for him, The Athletic previously reported.

Rather than take a chance on the French midfielder, the Blues ended up acquiring Saul Niguez from Atletico Madrid. Chelsea agreed to a one-season loan deal for the services of the Spanish player with an option to buy.

Juventus is aware that the race for Tchouameni may not be easy, especially considering the success that the Blues have had under Tuchel.

Bianconeri manager Massimiliano Allegri is likely aware of this. Aside from Tchouameni, Juve reportedly has other player targets. It was not mentioned how determined Allegri is in pursuing the French player, but Tchouameni’s progress may hint at him being at the top of his list.

Interest in Tchouameni is likely to ramp up after this season, especially if he continues to show progress. It won’t come as a surprise if more teams set their sights on the French midfielder by the next transfer window.
