Former President Donald Trump has privately weighed in on Meghan Markle’s bombshell interview with Oprah Winfrey and the backlash British TV host Piers Morgan received after criticizing the duchess of Sussex, a former adviser revealed last week.

Jason Miller, Trump’s former senior communications adviser, appeared on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” podcast on Wednesday when he revealed what the ex-president thought about Markle’s interview with Winfrey

"She’s no good… I said it and now everybody is seeing it," Trump reportedly commented.

Miller also said that Trump feared that criticizing Markle publicly would lead to him possibly getting “canceled” like Morgan. The British TV host made headlines on Tuesday after he stormed off the set of “Good Morning Britain” following a tense exchange with a co-host.

Morgan later claimed he was fired after he refused to apologize to the duchess for criticizing her claims about having suicidal thoughts and racism within the royal family.

"I'm sorry, I don't believe a word she says, Meghan Markle. I wouldn't believe her if she read me a weather report," Morgan said. "The fact that she's fired up this onslaught against our royal family, I think is contemptible."

Morgan’s comments earned more than 41,000 complaints to the U.K. regulator Ofcom. However, Miller said Trump backed the British host.

"I’m on team Piers," Trump told the former adviser. "Piers Morgan is the best, he’s the greatest, and they went and tried to cancel him simply because he criticized Meghan Markle.”

Trump had previously clashed with the duchess of Sussex. In 2016, Markle announced that she was voting for Hillary Clinton because “because Trump has made it easy to see that you don’t really want that kind of world that he’s painting.” This prompted Trump to slam the duchess in a 2019 interview with The Sun, calling her “nasty.”

“I didn’t know that. What can I say? I didn’t know that she was nasty,” Trump told the outlet.

During the 2020 presidential race, Trump attacked Markle after she and Prince Harry endorsed his opponent, Joe Biden.

“I’m not a fan of hers. And she probably has heard that,” Trump said. "But I wish a lot of luck to Harry because he’s going to need it.”
