  • A report claimed Shakira found out Gerard Piqué allegedly cheated on her when some of her jam went missing
  • Piqué and her kids don't eat jam, so Shakira allegedly suspected someone else had been in her home
  • Twitter users had mixed reactions to the report

New claims about how Shakira discovered her ex Gerard Piqué was allegedly cheating on her were met with mixed reactions on social media.

Shakira, 45, and the Spanish soccer player, 35, broke up last summer after 11 years together amid rumors that he was cheating on her.

According to ShowNews Today, it was recently revealed on the Spanish TV program "Socialite" that Shakira allegedly found out about the soccer star's infidelity when she returned to their home from traveling to find that some of her jam had gone missing. International Business Times could not independently verify the report.

The Colombian singer reportedly eats strawberry jam, but her then-partner and their kids — Milan, 9, and Sasha, 7 — don't like the fruit spread, suggesting that someone else had been in her house and eaten it.

Some fans and social media users wasted no time slamming Piqué and the woman with whom he allegedly cheated on the "Hips Don't Lie" singer.

"You're married to and cheating on Shakira and letting your side piece eat HER jam???? The level of disrespect is astounding," one Twitter user commented. Shakira and Piqué were never married.

"I found out my ex was cheating from a smoothie receipt in his car. Shakira found out from a jar of jam. I don't care how crazy we look or sound, when something doesn't feel right, women will always find out," another tweeted.

"Shakira confirmed her man was cheating because nobody in her house likes jam and every time she went out of town jam from her special jar dwindled. That's how smart women are. If your side piece is gonna eat your woman's food, be smart enough to replace it," a third user suggested.

"Men are an absolute insane species [for real], like [you're] gonna cheat SHAKIRA?? And let the woman [eat your wife's jam]?? THE MOTHER [OF YOUR] CHILDREN??" a fourth user opined.

Some poked fun at the report and posted memes about the jam speculation.

But others questioned whether the report about the jam was really true.

"SOOO [you're] telling me that Shakira, with all the media, security cameras and household employees she probably has, didn't know her husband was cheating until she noticed someone ate her strawberry jam? Entertaining narrative but PLSSSS," one person tweeted.

According to Page Six, Shakira seemingly alluded to the incident in the music video for her and Rauw Alejandro's single "Te Felicito," in which she can be seen opening a refrigerator, only to discover Alejandro's head on a platter.

In the track, Shakira sings about how she "can't stand two-faced people," according to Fox News. One line also said, "Your wound didn't open my skin, but it did open my eyes."

In an interview with the British show "This Morning" following the release of the single, the interviewer asked her, "There's a moment in the video where you go to the fridge and you're not going to the fridge for milk. Tell me about that, what's going on?"

"To find out the truth," Shakira replied. "So I go to the refrigerator, and it is when I find the head of Rauw Alejandro, which is pretty scary."

Shakira also explained that "te felicito" is a Spanish word that means "congratulations" and that the song is about a woman who creates the perfect man in her head but soon realizes she is wrong.

"I guess that it happens to all of us once in a while, you know," Shakira said while laughing. "That you think you're in a real relationship, but it's not as real as it seems."

She and Pique announced their split in June 2022. He has since been spotted in public with his rumored new girlfriend, 23-year-old Clara Chia Marti.

Shakira recently took aim at her ex in her diss track "BZRP Music Session #53," singing in Spanish, "I was out of your league" and "This is for you to be mortified, to chew and swallow, swallow and chew. I won't get back with you, not if you cry, not even if you beg me."

She also appeared to take a dig at Marti, saying, "You traded in a Ferrari for a Twingo, You traded in a Rolex for a Casio."
