  • Michael Bisping believes Jon Jones deserves to face the winner of Miocic vs. Ngannou

The reigning UFC heavyweight champion feels he’s still too good for Francis Ngannou.

After two years, Ngannou finally got the chance to make another run for the title as he takes on Stipe Miocic in a rematch at UFC 260 this weekend.

The highly-anticipated second encounter is likely to be one of UFC’s biggest events of the year with both Miocic and Ngannou coming off an impressive winning streak.

Miocic was able to reclaim his heavyweight title by beating Daniel Cormier twice, while Ngannou earned another crack at the title after four consecutive first-round knockout wins.

It can be recalled that Miocic scored a unanimous decision win over Ngannou during their first meeting. Ahead of the second showdown, the Ohio native still believes that Ngannou will still be unable to match his fighting style.

“Francis [Ngannou] has gotten a lot better since the first fight with me, but styles make matchup, and unfortunately, the style I have is not good for him,” Miocic said on UFC Countdown. “I’m walking out ‘And Still.'”

While the narrative of UFC 260 is centered on Miocic and Ngannou, the main event shares the spotlight with Jon Jones’ much-awaited heavyweight debut.

Former UFC middleweight titlist Michael Bisping was one of the most notable names in the sport who shared an interesting insight about Jones’ move to heavyweight.

According to Bisping, Jones has been undisputed as a light heavyweight for such a long time that he deserves to fight the winner of the Miocic vs. Ngannou clash.

“Whoever wins that fight [Miocic vs. Ngannou], Jon Jones–he’s on deck to fight next,” Bisping recently said on his podcast.

“Could you imagine the storyline if Jon Jones can go out there after being essentially undefeated for so long, taking out multiple generations of mixed martial artists and then go up to heavyweight and take out the greatest heavyweight the UFC has ever seen?” he continued. “I mean you can close the f---ing book on all of this chat about the greatest of all time because that’s it! It’s over, it’s done!”

While a fight against Jones is likely to happen soon, Miocic set the record straight that he isn’t paying too much attention to it at the moment.

“Right now, all I’m worried about is the fight coming up with Francis,” Miocic told MMA Fighting. “That’s all I care about. I’m not going to worry about Jon Jones until I take care of business.”
