One of returning UFC star Conor McGregor’s training routines before facing undefeated boxing champ Floyd Mayweather reportedly helps prevent heart diseases and depression.

Movement Culture is an emerging style of physical training which basically offers an unusual but well-rounded training style to suit all shapes and sizes. This form of training reportedly aims to fight people’s lack of physical activity which significantly triggers heart diseases, depression and other ailments.

In a recent interview with The Post, Andres Vesga, a Hong Kong-based Movement coach, insisted that movement can really help people who are terribly lacking daily physical activity because of different reasons.

“We work all day on computers. Then you see people staring at phones while they’re doing sit-ups in the gym or having lunch together,” Vesga said.

“People are so detached [from] their own bodies and from each other. Movement can protect us from this environment,” Vesga added.

Studies reveal that physical inactivity increases the risk of chronic conditions. This includes heart diseases, high blood pressure as well as mental health problems such as anxiety or depression. Apparently, through Movement training, all the health problems mentioned can be prevented.

The Movement training is basically composed of hand-eye coordination drills, arm balancing and muscle control, and locomotion – which is essential for enhancing power.

Movement is a training style and for some, a way of life. In fact, it is now being used as a training routine for parkour and boxing. It is also what made Israeli-born coach Ido Portal somewhat famous. Portal, gained popularity when YouTube videos of him artfully crouching, leaping and turning across the ground went viral in the early 2010s.

Not only did the Movement helped Portal in establishing his career but it also captured the attention of former UFC two-division champ McGregor. In fact, McGregor used Movement as part of his preparation in 2017 when he faced Mayweather in a blockbuster boxing fight.

Aside from McGregor, Bellator superstar Michael “Venom” Page also practices Movement and has evidently helped him win some of his most notable fights.

Both McGregor and Page were students of Portal and one thing the two MMA stars have in common is their exceptional body movement during fight.

Portal could be credited for some of McGregor and Page’s victories but is quite undeniable that the Movement training is a proven regimen in improving not only the human health but the performance of professional athletes as well.
