Landon Donovan will be in action for the U.S. team against Mexico on Wednesday night. Retuters

The U.S. has a new head coach, but also a similar goal: beat rival Mexico.

There is no country the U.S. cares more about beating than neighboring Mexico, especially after the recent 4-2 loss in the Gold Cup in Pasadena, California, on June 25th. The Yanks surrendered four unanswered goals in the match, and will take the memory with them to Philadephia when the two CONCACAF powers meet in a friendly on Wednesday night.

Though Jurgen Klinsmann's debut will create additional buzz, the U.S. team still has bitter feelings about the Gold Cup loss, and will be playing with extra intensity at Lincoln Financial Field.

Klinsmann will be missing one of his best players, attacking midfielder Clint Dempsey, and will also be without injured Rangers' midfielder Maurice Edu, who was replaced by Robbie Rogers.

Perhaps the most intriguing player on the U.S. roster is Freddy Adu. Once considered an elite world-class prospect, Adu failed to live up to high expectations on the club level, but at times has proven to be an excellent playmaker for the U.S. team.

Mexico will be without its most prominent player, Javier "El Chicharito" Hernandez. The Manchester United forward remains inactive after a concussion as the Premier League season kicks off this weekend.

In the Gold Cup, Steve Cherundolo had to be substituted out due to injury in the 11th minute, and the defense looked in disarray because of it. It will be interesting to see what adjustments Klinsmann makes to the defense this time around, and how potent the Mexican offense will be without Hernandez.
