Sterling K. Brown picked up two SAG Award nominations ahead of the 2017 show on Wednesday, and he could not be more thankful. The actor was recognized for his roles in NBC’s “This is Us” and FX’s “The People v. O. J. Simpson.”

Shortly after the nominations were announced, Brown, 40, shared his emotional reaction on Twitter. In a video he appeared to be crying as he thanked fans for their support and the Screen Actor’s Guild for the nominations. He also made a point to note that it was exciting to be nominated as just an actor, rather than for a supporting or lead role.

Brown told fans that he was humbled by the news and loves his chosen career path. In closing, the Missouri native sent a message to his peers, telling them he has enjoyed getting to know them.

Brown was nominated for two 2017 SAG Awards. His first nomination is in the outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series category for playing Randall on “This is Us.” He’s up against Peter Dinklage, John Lithgow, Rami Malek and Kevin Spacey.

The second nomination is for outstanding performance by a male actor in a miniseries of TV movie for his part on “The People v. O. J. Simpson.” In that category, he’ll face off with Riz Ahmed, Bryan Cranston, John Turturro and Courtney B. Vance.

If Brown does win in either category it will be his first SAG Award. At present, he has both a Primetime Emmy and Critics Choice Award under his belt. Both were for his part in “The People v. O.J. Simpson.”

The awards are slated to air live on TBS and TNT on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2017.
