KEY POINTS

  • Food increases stats like HP, Stamina and Eitr
  • Certain types of food grant more one stat than others
  • Mix and match food items to get balanced stat distributions

The Mistlands update expands upon Hearth & Home's cooking recipes by adding even more food options to the table. They include several new dishes players can cook using advanced ingredients found only in the Mistlands.

Food in "Valheim" may not be necessary for prolonged survival, but they offer important HP, Stamina and Eitr boosts that greatly improve a Viking's odds of winning a fight. Players should always keep their food stores stocked, especially if they want to venture out into the dangerous new biome.

Here are the new food recipes in the Mistlands update and some recommendations regarding the best ones to eat for specific builds. Just remember to build an Oven and an upgraded Cauldron first.

Valheim food table
In Valheim, eating food is essential to gaining more health, stamina and Eitr Valheim

Food For HP/Tank Builds

  • Misthare Supreme
  • Honey Glazed Chicken
  • Fish 'n Bread

This three-course meal grants a total of 195 extra HP and 144 Stamina, making it the perfect combo for melee-oriented fighter builds wielding heavy armor and weapons. Enemies in the Mistlands also tend to hit very hard, making such a meal combo almost necessary for maxing out a player's odds of survival.

Replace Fish 'n Bread with either Meat Platter or Serpent Stew for even more HP but less Stamina.

Food For Stamina/DPS/Builders

  • Mushroom Omelette
  • Salad
  • Fish 'n Bread

These three food items will leave players with 109 total HP and almost 300 points of Stamina. Archers, in particular, will want to get as much Stamina as possible, so they can keep drawing their bows from a distance. This set is also excellent for builders who don't want to worry about exhaustion while terraforming.

Food for Mages

  • Yggdrasil Porridge
  • Seeker Aspic
  • Stuffed Mushroom

Eat these three to get up to 240 more Eitr to spam magic. It will leave much to be desired in the HP and Stamina departments, but players who can find a safe distance to sling spells from won't ever need to worry about these stats in the first place.
