Looks like Sega is preparing to port “Vanquish” to the PC platform. The latest update for “Bayonetta” is apparently suggesting that the third-person shooter that features DARPA agent Sam Gideon will likely come to PC this year.

On Monday, NeoGAF user BernardoOne shared what players found when they installed the small 22kb Steam update that was rolled out to “Bayonetta” on the same day. On the EXTRAS folder, players discovered a “Vanquish” avatar. This has since caused people to speculate that Sega could be porting the latter to PC next.

According to VG24/7, the avatar is clearly of the helmet worn by Gideon in “Vanquish” and the only way to interpret its appearance in the “Bayonetta” update is the game’s arrival on PC. Unless, of course, Sega is just playing with fans’ emotions.

It can be noted that “Bayonetta’s” PC port was never officially announced before its release on Steam on April 11. Fans only found references to a teaser website from a joke Sega pulled for April Fool’s Day. Given this, it’s not surprising if the leaked avatar is already the confirmation “Vanquish” fans have been waiting for.

Platinum Games’ “Vanquish” was released for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 back in October 2010. Because the game is console-exclusive, many PC players are anticipating its release on the PC platform. “Bayonetta” sold over 100K copies on Valve’s digital distribution platform in its first week, so it’s very likely for “Vanquish” to achieve the same milestone.

Meanwhile, fans noticed that Platinum Games uploaded five videos on its YouTube channel, and each video features a short clip from the game that is repeated three times. PC Gamer thinks that this is hinting at the possibility that the “Vanquish” PC port could be announced at E3. The gaming news site also guessed that this could be a clue to “Bayonetta 3” as well.
