Vasyl Lomachenko seems to be ducking the next Floyd Mayweather.

Lightweight sensation Devin Haney just defeated Russia’s Zaur Abdullaev Friday evening at Madison Square Garden’s Hulu Theater in New York City. As expected, the fighter regarded as the “future Mayweather” took the opportunity to call-out lightweight superstar Lomachenko.

Haney’s win netted the Las Vegas-based boxer an interim lightweight title which he’s eager to parlay into a full title shot. In order to become a full-pledge lightweight king, Haney has to get pass Lomachenko in a title fight, Boxing Scene reported.

However, Haney has been very vocal about “Loma” not being interested to fight him.

“It’s No-machenko because he doesn’t want to fight me,” Haney said.

Haney is convinced that the next best fight for Lomachenko is him. He even tried to intimidate Lomachenko more by insisting that if the Ukrainian champ thinks he’s an easy fight, then they should finally setlle it inside the ring.

“Let’s get this fight going! Abdullaev was number two and I destroyed him. If I’m so easy, No-machenko should fight me and get me out of the way,” Haney exclaimed.

Prior to his victory over Abdullaev, Haney has been eyeing to get a shot at Lomachenko. In fact, the 20-year-old revealed that he talks about Lomachenko’s name everyday.

“I’m mentioning his name every single day, I’m talking about him,” Haney revealed.

After repeatedly calling out Lomachenko and not getting any response, Haney is starting to get frustrated.

“I DM’d (direct messaged) him on his Instagram, he didn’t respond. I mean, c’mon,” Haney stated.

After all, Lomachenko received a benefit of the doubt from Haney’s promoter Eddie Hearn. According to Hearn, Lomachenko has all the reasons to fight for the undisputed but if decides not to, he should fight Haney.

“If he (Lomachenko) fights for the undisputed, I understand—every fighter should try and fight for the undisputed title. If not, I believe he should take his mandatory (Haney),” Hearn explained.

Haney is confident that aside from being the WBC mandatory for Lomachenko, he is totally capable of defending his interim title until Lomachenko finally decides to fight him.

A few days ago, Haney stated that the WBC interim world championship fight with Lomachenko means a lot to him. He is also ready to prove everybody that he is more than just an up and coming boxer.

“The WBC interim world championship means a lot to me. Some people kept labeling me a prospect when I knew I was so much more,” Haney noted.
