Women’s Tennis champion Venus Williams got emotional during a press conference Monday following her win at Wimbledon — though her tears were not of joy.

Williams was doing a press conference after her opening tennis match and was asked about a fatal car crash that she was involved in that left a 78-year-old Florida man dead. The tennis star broke down.

During the press conference, a reporter asked about a Facebook post that Williams posted regarding the crash. She appeared to be shaken up and didn’t answer any further questions.

"There are really no words to describe, like, how devastating and -- yeah," Williams said. "I'm completely speechless. It's just — yeah, I mean, I'm just…"

After her short response, she said, "Maybe I should go." Then she left the presser.

Williams took to Facebook last Friday to give a statement regarding the crash.

"I am devastated and heartbroken by this accident," Williams wrote. "My heartfelt condolences go out to the family and friends of Jerome Barson and I continue to keep them in my thoughts and prayers."

Williams is reportedly facing a lawsuit for wrongful death by the family of a Florida man who died following a car accident police say Williams caused. The family of the deceased, 78-year-old Jerome Barson, filed the lawsuit last Friday in Palm Beach County Circuit Court for damages.

Family attorney Michael Steinger accused Williams, 37, of failing to yield at a traffic light, driving while distracted and careless operation of a vehicle. Police announced that Williams triggered the June 9 crash that left Jerome Barson with a fractured spine and severe internal injuries. He was pronounced dead June 22.

"This was the love of her life that she spent every day with. They did everything together," Steinger told the Associated Press. He added that Linda Barson is "physically and emotionally devastated."

According to a report obtained by TMZ last Friday, Williams drove through a red light at an intersection and collided with the Barsons’ vehicle. He was a passenger in the car. His wife Linda Barson, who was driving the car, sustained serious injuries to her right arm and hand.

According to the report, the couple’s vehicle was "crushed, the front windshield shattered, the airbags deployed, there was crush damage to the rear on the driver's side, and the back window was shattered."

Steinger said that Williams' involvement in the crash might have slowed down the police investigation process.

"They are trying to do the best job they can and make sure they have everything covered before they release the information and make a determination" as to whether charges should be brought, he said.

Williams is playing in England for the Wimbledon tournament. She is seeded 10th overall.
