Over the decades, Apple has developed a loyal fanbase thanks to their dedication to making innovative and impressive pieces of technology. Ranging from new versions of the iPhone to the latest MacBook Air, those who are fans of the Steve Jobs-founded company have continued to show their support since its 1976 founding in Cupertino, CA.

Now, a recent auction has proven that the interest in the company has also transitioned over into other products outside of the realm of tech.

According to Sole Collector, a pair of vintage Apple Computer sneakers recently sold at auction for $9,687.50 after 20 bids were placed.

The shoes, which were a size 9 1/2 and featured the classic rainbow Apple logo, had extra importance due to the fact that they were only given out to employees in the 1990s. Therefore, the publication stated that they were "one of the more obscure sneakers in existence."

The shoes can be seen in the tweet below.

Additionally, the outlet said that a similar pair had been put up for auction in 2017, with a starting price of $15K. However, they did not sell at the time.

As reported by Gizmodo, the sneakers may not be as unexpected as initially perceived due to the fact that Apple "did dabble in sportswear in the early ‘90s." They also reported that they were "pre-worn and featured some minor wear and tear, but were otherwise in excellent condition."

This is not the only vintage Apple piece that has sold for an impressive amount of money in recent months. Apple Insider reports that an "original Apple retail sign from the late 1970s" was also scheduled to be auctioned off beginning on Thursday. The sign, which is 4-by-5-foot, was created for retail stores circa 1978.

The sign, which is said to be in "very good" condition, had a starting bid of $20K.
