We're finally in double digits in the countdown to the United States presidential election. In the run-up to Nov. 8, there's more to do than simply watch Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump duke it out on CNN — you need to get ready to vote.

You can register online, in person or by snail mail, but you need to do it soon. Each state sets its own deadline. To make matters more confusing, the deadlines are usually written in a roundabout way, like "the last day to register is 29 days before election day."

Consulting the U.S. Vote Foundation website and Rock the Vote, we've put together an actual calendar of general election voter registration deadlines by state. Contact your local supervisor of elections for details.
