The introduction of the fearsome new character Beta (Ryan Hurst) may be exactly what “The Walking Dead” Season 9 needs to get the fans to start watching the show again. Preview videos of episode 12 have surfaced online, and many of the fans who have read the comics feel that the TV series has managed to get the voice of the character just right.

Henry (Matt Lintz) had gone out on a mission to save Lydia (Cassady McClincy) in the previous episode. A trailer video of episode 12 shows him catching up with the Whisperers group. However, Beta will capture him before he attempts to rescue his friend.

The voice over in the preview video is that of Lydia explaining to her mother how she “lied” to the people at Hilltop about being in need of help. Is she just saying that to please her mother?

A sneak peek scene from “The Waking Dead” Season 9, episode 12 shows Alpha (Samantha Morton) explaining to her daughter the importance of telling lies. She will teach her daughter that lies are “just words…nothing more.”

The capture of Henry will give Alpha the perfect chance to test her daughter. The preview shows Lydia punching Henry in the face, and another scene appears to show her using a knife on him. Will this be the end of the road for Lintz’s character?

Meanwhile, Beta knows that there may be others from Hilltop who will come in search of their friends. Daryl (Norman Reedus) will catch up with the Whisperers. Michonne (Danai Gurira) may also join the fight, although the preview video shows how reluctant she is to put more lives at risk. Gabriel (Seth Gilliam), however, will be eager to offer help.

Another preview scene shows Beta to be a good tracker. The character has dominated the online conversations about the show, making him one of the most highly anticipated characters. The fans also approve of Hurst’s take on the character.

The next episode of “The Walking Dead” Season 9 airs on March 3 at 9 p.m. EST.
