KEY POINTS

  • Pro wrestling star Bobby Fish made a successful pro boxing debut
  • Fish knocked out Ghana's Boateng Prempeh in the second round
  • Fish is currently signed to Impact Wrestling

Bobby Fish may be better known for his work inside the professional wrestling ring, but there is certainly no doubt about his legitimacy as a combat sports athlete.

On Sunday, November 13, the tag-team specialist traded in his wrestling gear for a pair of boxing gloves as he made his professional debut on the undercard of the Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Deji Olatunji exhibition match, which was held at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The 46-year-old Fish opened the card in spectacular fashion, knocking out Ghana's Boateng Prempeh in the second round.

Fish battered Prempeh with powerful shots that sent the Ghanaian crumbling to his knees. The referee waved off the bout just moments later.

Prempeh entered the bout with a 2-3 record and was coming off back-to-back losses.

The card's main event saw Mayweather Jr. defeat Deji by technical knockout in the sixth round of their exhibition bout.

This isn't Fish's first foray into the combat sports world as he competed in amateur kickboxing back in 2010 and won by second-round TKO.

In fact, combat sports plays a big part in Fish's persona as a professional wrestler as he regularly incorporates Muay Thai-style strikes into his moveset.

Fish is a highly-decorated competitor inside the squared-circle having won multiple tag-team titles alongside long-time partner Kyle O'Reilly.

He and O'Reilly, collectively known as reDragon, have captured tag-team titles in promotions such as New Japan Pro-Wrestling and Ring of Honor.

Moreover, he has won tag-team titles in Pro Wrestling Noah, Upstate Pro Wrestling and Pro Wrestling Unscripted with different partners.

During his time with WWE, Fish plied his trade under the NXT brand alongside O'Reilly, Adam Cole and Roderick Strong as members of the super-popular faction The Undisputed Era.

In NXT, Fish also captured championship gold, winning the NXT Tag Team Championships, once with O'Reilly and once with Strong.

In 2021, Fish parted ways with WWE.

Later that year, he signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) and eventually reunited with former The Undisputed Era stablemates Cole and O'Reilly in the company.

Fish's tenure with AEW was far from fruitful, and he ultimately left the promotiom on a sour note after his contract expired in 2022.

In subsequent interviews, Fish expressed his displeasure with how AEW handled his booking.

Fish is currently signed to Impact Wrestling.
