Looks like the Apple Watch Series 3 smartwatch is finally getting music streaming support and other new features when the upcoming watchOS 4.1 software update arrives. The release notes for the golden master have been leaked this Wednesday, giving users a clear idea as to what they can expect when the official version is released.

The release notes for the golden master were leaked online by developer Guilherme Rambo via Twitter. Based on this leak, new features that were uncovered during beta testing will surely arrive with the software update. Interestingly, other changes and features were also revealed by the leaked notes.

One of the noteworthy features that will arrive with watchOS 4.1 is the capability to stream music using the Apple Watch Series 3. The smartwatch is apparently getting a Radio app that will enable users to listen to live radio on Beats 1, custom stations and expert-curated stations. Moreover, Apple Watch Series 3 users will henceforth be able to stream music with Apple Music or iCloud Music Library.

The golden master release notes also confirm GymKit support. This fitness-focused feature utilizes the built-in NFC chip to connect to compatible gym equipment. This connection would allow users to access accurate workout data from the paired equipment. Wareable has learned that manufacturers like Life Fitness have already come up with gym equipment that are capable of connecting with the Apple Watch smartwatches.

Apple Insider reports that the watchOS 4.1 update will also come with bug fixes to solve certain issues. One such problem that will be addressed by the update prevents some first-generation Apple Watch models from charging properly. Another fix is for the heart rate notifications that continue to be displayed on the Apple Watch Series 1 even when the feature has been disabled.

Meanwhile, Macrumors says that the watchOS 4.1 update will bring with it several new Unicode 10 emojis though this is not listed in the leaked golden master release notes. The publication also pointed out that since these are not the final release notes, Apple could still include new features and tweaks to the final watchOS 4.1 version prior to its public rollout. Therefore, it is still possible that the Apple Watch would be getting Apple Pay Cash support.

The appearance of the golden master release notes seems to suggest that Apple could be releasing watchOS 4.1 as soon as next week. It’s also possible that watchOS 4.1 would be launched alongside other software updates, namely: iOS 11.1, macOS 10.13.1 and tvOS 11.1.
