Fast-food chain Wendy’s is putting a fruity twist on its classic Frosty. The company announced on Monday the introduction of a “Strawberry Frosty” for the first time.

The Strawberry Frosty is currently available at Wendy's locations but will only be offered for a limited time for the summer. Wendy’s explained that the strawberry addition of its fan favorite treat was highly requested to pair with its other flavors. It also offers the Frosty in chocolate and vanilla.

"We're always listening to our fans and as the most-requested item, it was a no-brainer for us to bring the Strawberry Frosty to the menu this season," Carl Loredo, the company's chief marketing officer, said in a press release.

Wendy’s made a slight slam when announcing its new iced treat noting that some of its competitors' ice cream machines have technical issues and don’t work. Its competitor McDonald’s is known for having consistent problems with its ice cream machines being down. A website called "mcbroken.com" has even been created to keep track of all the McDonald's locations with ice cream machines specifically broken.

"While some of our competitors are still trying to get their ice cream machines to work, fans can dip into this new strawberry treat all summer long at Wendy's,” Loredo said in the release.

Wendy’s originally only offered its Chocolate Frosty but started offering a vanilla version in 2006. The company has only ever offered a different flavor then chocolate and vanilla in 2019 with a “Birthday Cake Frosty” for its 50th birthday.
