Fox News political commentator Jesse Watters, who co-hosts “The Five,” made an embarrassing error this week on the show, mistakenly mixing up CBS reporter Gayle King and ABC reporter Robin Roberts. And King did not let the mistake go by silently.

King revealed Thursday night on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” that she wrote an email to his co-host, Dana Perino, thanking her after she fact-checked him on-air.

While speaking about R. Kelly’s sexual abuse case as well as his child support battle, Watters made remarks about King, who is the first reporter to have an interview with the disgraced singer in recent months following a docuseries that aired in January about his alleged indiscretions with underage girls.

The commentator praised King for how she handled R. Kelly, who at one point became irate and ranted in front of her and the cameras. "Hats off to Gayle King for totally redeeming herself after the [Jussie] Smollett fiasco,” he said. But the problem is that it was Roberts, not King, who conducted the interview with Smollett about his alleged racist attack in Chicago.

As a co-host went on to speak, Perino interjected to set the record straight, telling Watters, “That was not Gayle King...Robin Roberts did the Smollett interview." Watters responded, “Oh, I knew that” as his co-hosts laughed before he went on to apologize.

During her guest spot with Colbert, King, who hosts “CBS This Morning,” told him what her email to Perino said. “Hi, just wanted to thank you for letting your colleague know that Robin Roberts and I, it was a great compliment, but thank you for letting him know that we’re two different people. And could you let the rest of your colleagues know that all black people do not look alike. Could you please just share that?”
