  • West Ham has completed the transfer of Kurt Zouma, Nikola Vlasic and Alex Kral
  • Arsenal legend Kevin Campbell lauded West Ham manager David Moyes for his brilliant recruiting strategy
  • The Hammers are expected to still pursue Manchester United's Jesse Lingard

An Arsenal legend adulated West Ham's late signing of Kurt Zouma, Nikola Vlasic and Alex Kral.

Despite missing out on big-name targets in the past transfer window, West Ham still managed to land Zouma, Vlasic and Kral before deadline.

Weighing in on the stunning late move by the Hammers, Arsenal great Kevin Campbell heaped praise on West Ham manager David Moyes for a revamping job well done.

Campbell is also convinced West Ham will be able to match its last season’s record with a bolstered roster.

“The plan is to match last season’s effort,” Campbell exclusively told Football Insider of West Ham. “They have strengthened in certain areas and brought in some good players like [Nikola] Vlasic. Vlasic has improved immensely from his time at Everton. He is a renowned player now, a full international, he’s a brilliant signing.”

“Moyes has gone about his business pretty quietly and he’s building a really good squad there at West Ham,” he continued. “If there are injuries they have enough players to pick up the slack. That was the big problem for West Ham last season. They have definitely strengthened this summer 100%."

Prior to signing the three players, West Ham was heavily linked to a permanent transfer move for on loan star Jesse Lingard.

As things stand, the Hammers are said to be still keeping tabs on Lingard’s situation with Moyes keen on having the Manchester United attacker back in his squad.

While there is an apparent interest, nothing has progressed yet even to this day. However, BBC pundit and Moyes’ close friend Mark Lawrenson earlier revealed that based on the Hammers boss’ recent comment, it is very likely that West Ham will still pursue Lingard.

“I am sure Moyes would take him [Lingard],” Lawrenson said. “Although, he did say that they got him at absolutely the right time. I said ‘What do you mean?’ He said ‘Well, he enjoys his life.’ I thought it was a great statement. He said ‘Well, it was lockdown and COVID.’ He basically came into training [with West Ham] then he went back to his apartment and that’s where he was.”

“I thought that was a modern insight into the way some of the footballers are. He would take him because he said ‘he was like a breath of fresh air,'” he added.

Lingard left a lasting impression on West Ham as an on loan player last season, finishing his loan spell with nine goals and four assists.
