Evan Rachel Wood is busy portraying Dolores Abernathy on the sophomore season of “Westworld,” and even though the work hours can be gruelling, the actress said it’s all worth it because the show is nothing short of wonderful.

“I shot until 3 in the morning a couple nights ago, so I’m still sort of in a dream space,” she told Entertainment Tonight. “But it is twice as ambitious as the first season.”

Wood said she loves how the show continuously surprises her. The first season was already filled with shocking twists and turns, but the second season is already catching up to those surprises. “I didn't think the show could shock me and it continues to do so,” she explained. “It’s going to be everything and more.”

But what surprises does the show have up its sleeves? Maybe there will be unexpected character deaths, or maybe shocking returns. Show creators Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy earlier told TV Line that one particular episode will be a “bloodbath,” and it’s all thanks to Joy’s directorial debut.

“You’ve made it far more violent and disturbing than we ever intended,” Nolan teased his wife. “It was quite a placid episode, and Lisa has kind of turned it into a bloodbath.”

The two didn’t say which characters will spill blood, but people are guessing it’s the park guests who are in trouble. After all, one of the trailers for the upcoming season showed Dolores and fellow host, Teddy Flood (James Marsden), chasing them down and gunning them without a second thought.

Wood loves how independent and fierce Dolores became, especially since she appeared very timid when fans first met her. “That character went through so much in the first season, so much pain and so many horrible realizations about the world and herself. The whole time, people were rooting for her to break free and take control,” she told The Hollywood Reporter.

“Yes, she’s gunning down people. But in her defense, she has been pushed a little too far,” the actress added.

“Westworld” Season 2 premieres on HBO in 2018.
