What will happen when Prince William becomes the new king?

The Duke of Cambridge is second in line to the throne. He is expected to take over the throne after Prince Charles.

When that time comes, there will be changes, especially to the Cambridges’ household.

Before this happens, there will be an official mourning period for the deceased former monarch and a coronation to cement Prince William as the new king, Express first reported.

Prince William will have to choose a name. For royals, names that have already belonged to members of the monarchy are chosen which may mean choosing another name. Good thing, the Duke of Cambridge’s name has been used in the past, so he could use his own name if he wants to.

Also, when Prince William reigns, the national anthems, currency and postage stamps will change to reflect the new monarch. His wife, Kate Middleton, and their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, should also be ready for the changes.

The family will be required to move into the Buckingham Palace. This also means that they have to delegate some work and stop doing some of the usual things they enjoy. Middleton had to say goodbye to her low-key lifestyle.

At present, Middleton is very hands-on when it comes to their kids and household. She has been spotted doing groceries and shopping for her kids several times.

One time she was photographed buying what appeared to be coriander or parsley with a “25 percent off” sticker at Waitrose in Norfolk. She was also seen transferring the bags from the cart to her car.

Middleton was also spotted buying new shoes for Prince George and Princess Charlotte. Middleton forgot to bring their socks since they were wearing sandals and had to borrow socks from the shopkeeper for the kids to try on their new shoes and see if they fit. When she becomes the queen consort, she has to delegate these tasks to the aides even if she wants to do them.

It remains unknown when Prince William will take over the throne. Kashia Langton of Express said that “it will be at least 20 years” since his father, Prince Charles, is ahead of him in the line of succession.

Prince William and Middleton were last seen with their kids and the rest of the members of the royal family at Trooping the Colour. The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge also attended the opening of Royal Ascot on Tuesday.
