The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have yet to release a public statement in regards to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s decision to part from their senior roles within the British royal family, but according to a report, Kate Middleton and Prince William have been discussing the move behind closed doors.

In Touch Weekly’s Jan. 27 print issue reveals that, according to royal sources, Kate, who has long been rumored to be feuding with Meghan, “saw” the couple’s break from the family coming.

“She couldn’t help say to William, ‘I told you so,’ when she heard the announcement,” an insider revealed.

Despite reportedly predicting the fallout, Kate is said to be upset about missing out on future time with Harry. “And she always loved Harry,” said a source, adding, “so while she might be glad Meghan is out of her hair, she’s sad about losing Harry.”

In a time of great transition for the royal family, Kate is also said to be “supportive” to her husband as he reportedly “feels totally let down” by his brother’s “reckless” actions.

“The way William sees it, Harry’s thrown all the good advice he gave him back in his face,” explained an insider. “[He’s] done everything to help his brother over the years…”

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex announced their decision to “step back” from their senior roles on Jan. 8 in an effort to “work to become financially independent” while still “continuing to fully support” the Queen. Per a statement from Queen Elizabeth II and Buckingham Palace on Jan. 18, the couple will drop their HRH titles and will no longer receive public funds for royal duties.
