Avril Lavigne is suffering from an undisclosed medical issue and asked her fans for their support, Billboard confirmed. The “Hello Kitty” singer lamented that she is private, so she has not wanted to share what has been wrong. But she told her fans in a direct message on Twitter that she was suffering from a “health issue.”

"I feel bad because I haven't been able to say anything to the fans to let them no why I've been absent," Lavigne said in a DM to @AvrilMusicChart Sunday, according to Billboard. "I'm torn as I'm quite private. ... I'm not feeling well. I'm having some health issues. So please keep me in your prayers."

As dozens of sites picked up on the news, @AvrilMusicChart retweeted most of the messages.

Though a rep for Lavigne, 30, would not tell Billboard what exact illness the Canadian-born singer was suffering from, the rep noted she was not pregnant. Lavigne has not yet released an official statement.

She has reportedly not been spotted in public since September, the U.K.’s Daily Mail wrote.

Her last tweet was an end-of-the-year playlist. “Wanted to say thx to my fans for the support this past year!” she wrote.

News that she’s sick comes after rumors swirled that she and husband of one year, Chad Kroeger, were experiencing marital problems. The couple married in July 2013, and even though her friends reportedly don’t like the Nickelback frontman, they want her to work it out, E! News wrote.

“ … She and Chad haven't been married that long so her friends want her to make sure she's given it every chance before pulling the plug,” an insider told the news site. “Things still aren't good. But Avril's friends are encouraging her to try and work it out.” One example of apparent trouble in paradise: Kroeger didn’t attend his wife’s 30th birthday bash in Las Vegas.
