“Supergirl” hasn’t come back just yet, but fans don’t have to wait much longer for The CW fan favorite to return. Kara Danvers will fly back to screens in just a few weeks.

“Supergirl” Season 5 premieres Sunday, Oct. 6 at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW. It’ll be paired with another new female-fronted DC Comics adaptation, “Batwoman.” Of course, the two will crossover in the “Crisis on Infinite Earths” event in late fall.

When Kara comes back to TV, she’ll have an all-new look. The superhero has ditched her skirt for a full bodysuit. The pants are not only keeping actress (and soon-to-be director) Melissa Benoist warmer on the Canadian set, but it also shows growth for Kara.

“I just think it’s more adult,” Benoist told Entertainment Weekly. “Part of my goal in this whole series for whenever the show ends, I just want there to be a very clear arc for this character that she evolved as a woman and found her femininity and her adulthood, just a self-discovery.”

“Supergirl” Season 5 is going to be diving into technology. “We think of this as our ode to ‘Black Mirror,’” showrunner Robert Rovner told TVLine. “The hope is that people would be more engaged with what’s going on and wanting to make the world a better place, but they seem to be more engaged with technology. We explore how that affects our characters and how our villains try to exploit that.”

Is one of those villains Lena Luthor (Katie McGrath)? After learning about Kara’s identity as Supergirl from her brother Lex (Jon Cryer), she’ll be throwing herself into work. She wants to create tech so that people don’t have to rely on other humans. It doesn’t sound like her new project is only for helping though. She wants revenge.

“I don’t want to kill Supergirl,” Lena says in the Season 5 Comic-Con trailer. “I just want her to experience the same hurt she inflicted on me. And soon enough, she will.”

Lena isn’t Kara’s only problem, though. Leviathan is the season’s big bad. The evil organization has big plans for Earth that are being kept top-secret for now.

Those hoping to watch “Supergirl” Season 5 on Netflix will have to wait a while. The streaming service usually doesn't release CW TV shows until a week after the season finale airs on the broadcast network. That won't happen until spring.
