Like they have done for the past nine years, music fans will make their way to various record stores around the world on Saturday to celebrate Record Store Day. Now in its 10th year of existence, the event, which is managed by the Department of Record Stores, promotes independent record stores with special releases of vinyl albums. If you’re wondering when Record Store Day 2017 is, we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know about the event.

When Is Record Store Day 2017?

This year’s Record Store Day will take place on April 22, 2017. The ambassador for the 2017 event will be artist St. Vincent who has released her own two albums on previous Record Store Days. “It is with deep honor and humility that I accept this ambassadorship. Rest assured I do not take my duties lightly,” said St. Vincent.

Which Stores Are Participating In Record Store Day 2017?

More than a 1000 stores around the world will be participating in Record Store Day, and a large number of them can be seen at the Record Store Day website. As the site warns, there are stores that participate in the event that won’t come up in the search, so make sure to call your local stores and check if they’re participating.

What Are Some Of The Big Album Releases?

Record Store Day 2017 will honor the passing of some of music’s biggest stars with two releases from David Bowie — “Cracked Actor” and “BOWPROMO” — as well as multiple special 12-inch Maxi-Singles from Prince and a 7-inch picture disc of “Little Red Corvette.” Other releases include records from The Notorious B.I.G., Run The Jewels, Danny Brown, Spoon, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Peter Tosh and Lin-Manuel Miranda. Many of the records will be limited to a small release.
