In addition to the long list of Disney+ streaming content already available on the platform, the service is also adapting some favorites back to the small screen in the form of reboots, such as the most recently announced “Home Alone.”

Not much is known about the project, save for a few of the stars -- child actor Archie Yates from Taika Watiti’s “Jojo Rabbit” is set to play the main kid. Comedians “Catastrophe” star Rob Delaney and “The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt” star Ellie Kemper are also set to lead.

Despite what some entertainment outlets are reporting, Delaney and Kemper are not playing Kevin McAllister’s parents. In fact, according to Screen Rant, Kevin may not even be in the movie at all. The new “Home Alone” reboot is an entirely fresh story with Yates’ character placed into a familiar situation like that of the 1990 Christmas classic starring Macaulay Culkin.

Yates will be tackling a big iconic role here for the Disney+ “Home Alone” reboot, even if the character’s name isn’t actually Kevin McAllister. It’s worth noting that his only acting credit to date was for his supporting role in “Jojo Rabbit,” a film that’s been nominated for a Golden Globe award for Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy. However, as Hollywood Life states, Yates was an “absolute scene-stealer” in Watiti’s anti-hate comedy.

Variety reports that Dan Mazer will be directing with a script penned by "SNL" writers Mikey Day and Streeter Seidell.

As of right now, none of the original actors are set to return and it’s unknown if the new story will connect with the original movies.
