Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was accused of raping a Las Vegas woman in a hotel in 2009. The allegation was part of a lawsuit filed against the sports personality Friday in Clark County.

The accuser, identified as Kathryn Mayorga, claimed the Portuguese footballer assaulted even after she repeatedly screamed no. The lawsuit also claimed Ronaldo apologized, "stating he was sorry, he was usually a gentleman."

Mayorga claimed Ronaldo and his team took advantage of her fragile emotional state to coerce her into signing a settlement and nondisclosure agreement in 2009. She claimed she received $375,000 in exchange for her silence, the lawsuit alleged. Mayorga seeks to void the settlement and agreement.

In an interview published in Der Spiegel Friday, Mayorga claimed the incident took place in Ronaldo's Palms Casino Resort suite while the two were partying with others.

Ronaldo’s lawyer reportedly said they planned to sue Der Spiegel for “moral damages.”

In a statement to BBC, Ronaldo’s lawyer Christian Schertz called Der Spiegel’s reporting “blatantly illegal” and “probably one of the most serious violations of personal rights in recent years.”

Meanwhile, Ronaldo’s girlfriend Georgina Rodriguez publicly offered her support amid the rape allegation. She took to her Instagram account to say the former Manchester United hero was always able to "transform the obstacles" put in his way.

"You always transform the obstacles that are put in your way into impulse and strength to show how great you are," she wrote.

Rodriguez and the Juventus star started dating in 2016 and the couple welcomed their first child together, daughter Alana Martina, on Nov. 12, 2017.

Ronaldo also took to Instagram where he dismissed the accusations as "fake news" during a live stream video. Responding to a fan's question regarding Mayorga's claims, he said: "They want to promote [themselves] by [using] my name. It's normal."

Court documents filed by Mayorga's lawyers stated: “Cristiano Ronaldo pulled the plaintiff into a bedroom and on to a bed and attempted to engage in sexual intercourse.”

According to reports, Mayorga met Ronaldo on June 12, 2009, in the Las Vegas nightclub. The star was there on vacation with his brother-in-law and cousin.

Mayorga, who was 25 years old at the time, was reportedly an aspiring model in 2009.

According to the lawsuit, Mayorga reported the alleged sexual assault the same day to police and underwent a sexual abuse examination at a local hospital. However, both hospital medical staff and a police detective told her she would be “subject of public humiliation as a victim of a sexual assault, and that Cristiano Ronaldo, and individuals associated with him, would further humiliate her by publicly characterizing her as a woman who consented to sexual intercourse and because of his wealth and fame was now attempting to extort money from Cristiano Ronaldo by falsely accusing him of sexual assault.”
