Over two years after the death of Lisa Marie Naegle, who was featured on E!'s reality show "Bridalplasty," her murderer has received a prison sentence.

Jackie Jerome Rogers, 36, was sentenced to 26 years to life on Monday after killing Naegle in 2016 due to his alleged jealousy over her marriage to Derek Harryman, whom she married shortly after being eliminated from the reality show, which awarded reconstructive surgery to its brides-to-be, in 2010. After first being arrested in 2016, Rogers was convicted of first-degree murder in September 2018.

Rogers and Naegle, a nursing instructor, reportedly carried on an affair after he became one of her students, and the murder has been described as a crime of passion. Naegle was killed after Rogers hit her with a hammer at least eight times during a night out at a birthday party before burying her in his backyard.

Rogers, argued the defense, killed her because he eventually snapped after feeling like she was toying with his emotions, according to NBC Los Angeles.

"Miss Naegle did not deserve to die. This is a tragedy,'' defense attorney Jeremy Lessem said, adding that Roger's actions were "the act of a very damaged, very hurt person with intellectual deficits who broke down and did something he never should have done.''
