It was a big weekend for Queen Elizabeth II. On Saturday, she revealed that her grandson Prince Harry and his wife Meghan Markle would no longer be working royals. However, that didn’t stop her Majesty from attending Sunday service.

In fact, the Queen was spotted with, possibly, the only royal more controversial than the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. On Sunday, the Sovereign attended church with Prince Andrew in Sandringham, England. People reports that it was their first public appearance together since Andrew stepped back from being a working royal. (He attended Christmas, but he skipped the public walk to church.)

Andrew and Harry’s steps down are a bit different. Andrew had ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, and despite his effort to defend their friendship, he was quickly ousted from the Firm. Meanwhile, Meghan and Harry made the decision to branch out from the royal family.

The Queen released a statement on Saturday that she was “pleased” with their agreement and supported the Sussexes' new path. “I recognize the challenges they have experienced as a result of intense scrutiny over the last two years and support their wish for a more independent life,” the Queen’s statement read. “I want to thank them for all their dedicated work across this country, the Commonwealth and beyond, and am particularly proud of how Meghan has so quickly become one of the family.”

Of course, there are rumors that the process wasn’t so smooth. The Queen was reportedly “blindsided” by Meghan and Harry’s announcement, according to Today. The couple supposedly rushed out their initial statement about stepping back to avoid a tabloid unveiling their plans first.
