When Scotty McCreery was crowed the winner of American Idol season 10, there was one person obviously missing from the stage: Lee DeWyze.

DeWyze won Season Nine of the singing competition. As it usually goes, the previous year's winner awards the trophy as a symbol of the passing of the torch.

Instead, it was judge Jennifer Lopez who presented McCreery with the trophy.

Nigel Lythgoe, an executive producer of American Idol, tweeted that DeWyze refused to present the trophy.

I was so upset Lee DeWyze wouldn't present the winners trophy to Scotty. Especially as he'd been on the show this Season. I guess he was shy, Lythoge tweeted.

Reports claim that DeWyze was at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles for the finale as he was spotted walking the red carpet.

It had initially been reported that DeWyze wasn't invited back to the finale.

Hey guys, no I'm not performing at the Finale. I wasn't asked to. A lot of questions so I thought I'd fill you in. Talk to you soon, DeWyze tweeted on Monday.

Given that all previous American Idol winners have been invited back to perform and present, it seems odd that DeWyze would be left out.
