1992 was a bad year for the monarchy and its reputation, and unfortunately or Queen Elizabeth, she was the one who was “held responsible” for some of the events which occurred due to her role as the head of the family.

According to the 2018 documentary, “Meghan’s New Life: The Real Princess Diaries,” the Queen was actually considered responsible for the bad press her children seemed to attract during the year 1992, which involved Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s separation, Prince Andrew and Sarah Ferguson’s separation and Princess Anne’s divorce from Mark Phillips.

“The Queen, as the head of the family, was held responsible,” Victoria Arbiter, a royal reporter, said in the documentary.

The Queen was also allegedly behind Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s ultimate divorce, which was finalized in 1996. Paul Burrell, Princess Diana’s personal butler, previously revealed that the monarch ordered the couple to end their marriage, something which made Diana “furious.”

“The princess tried to make her marriage work, and she never actually wanted a divorce. Diana said: I’ll have a separation but I don’t want to be divorced. For the children’s sake, I want to remain a family unit,” he revealed at the time. “The Queen wrote to Princess Diana and said for the sake of the monarchy, and the country, and the Church, we think it best if you and Charles divorce. The Princess was furious.”

“She said: ‘This is my marriage, not theirs. It’s nothing to do with the Church, it’s to do with me and Charles and the children,’” he added. “In the very end, she had to succumb to a divorce.”
