Chester Bennington and his band, Linkin Park, filmed an episode of “Carpool Karaoke: The Series” before he died. But as to whether or not this installment will actually be aired, the decision depends on the late singer’s family, according to host James Corden.

Entertainment Tonight reports Bennington and his band teamed up with funnyman Ken Jeong for the July 14 filming of the Apple Music series. The following day, a photo of Jeong with Linkin Park was uploaded on the band’s official Twitter account. Six days later, the Linkin Park frontman was found dead at his residence in Palos Verdes Estates in California after committing suicide.

Earlier this week, “Late Late Show” host James Corden spoke with the Associated Press to weigh in on whether or not Bennington’s installment will still be released following his demise. “We will approach it in whichever manner his family or the people that were involved in that episode, however they would like it to be handled. We will navigate it as delicately as possible and just adhere to whatever wishes they would want because I don’t think there’s any other way we could deal with it, really,” he said.

Bennington, Linkin Park and Jeong’s “Carpool Karaoke: The Series” episode is expected to be released in October. But Corden admitted that he hasn’t had the chance to speak with Bennington’s family members. “It’s completely up to them and that’s a conversation we haven’t even though about having right now,” he said.

Meanwhile, “Carpool Karaoke: The Series” showrunner Eric Pankowksi told The Hollywood Reporter that he has had conversations with the members of Linkin Park, as well as Bennington’s family, about releasing the episode. “We’ve been in conversations with the band and the family, and all the representatives of the band. We’re going to work with them to find the best and most respectful way forward on the episode,” he said.

Following Corden and Pankowski’s interviews with the two publications, Bennington’s wife, Talinda Bennington, reposted the host’s conversation with USA Today via her Twitter account.

Bennington was laid to rest in a private funeral held near his home in California on July 29. The singer’s memorial was attended by his family and closest friends in the music industry.
