The rebooted “Will & Grace” will sadly not have actor Alan Arkin back to reprise his role of Grace Adler’s father, Martin. However, someone is going to fill in for him this season of the NBC comedy series.

Actress Debra Messing, who plays titular character Grace, just revealed via Instagram that stand-up comedian Robert Klein has been chosen to take over Martin’s role. “The Great Alan Arkin was not able to return as dad so we feel very lucky to have Robert,” Adler captioned a photo she recently took with Klein.

This isn’t the first time that Messing and Klein will be working together. In fact, this isn’t also the first time that they’ll be taking on father-daughter roles. Klein was also Messing’s father in her short-lived “Mysteries of Laura” series. Klein portrayed Leo Diamond, while Messing gave life to her yet-another titular role, Laura Diamond, in the cop comedy that ran from 2014 through 2016, according to TV Guide.

It wasn’t revealed why Arkin isn’t able to reprise his “Will & Grace” character. It’s worth noting though that Grace’s father may have been mentioned many times in the show’s first eight seasons, but he only appeared on the show once during Season 7’s “It’s a Dad, Dad, Dad World” episode.

Aside from revealing the new actor who is playing her character’s father this season, Messing also confirmed that actress Blythe Danner is reprising her role as Eric McCormack’s onscren mother, Marilyn. It isn’t clear yet if Danner and Klein will appear in the same episode this season.

Meanwhile, more guest stars are scheduled to reprise their roles in the revived “Will & Grace” series. Earlier this month, NBC announced via Entertainment Weekly that Alec Baldwin is returning as Malcolm Widmark, the secret agent who shared a romantic relationship with Megan Mullally’s Karen Walker. Sara Rue is also coming back to portray’s Adler’s sister, Joyce.

Last week, NBC did not air an all-new episode of “Will & Grace” and instead re-aired episode 8, “Friends and Lover.” This week, episode 11 is finally gracing the small screen. On Feb. 1, fans will get to see “Staten Island Fairy,” a new installment that will feature Grace and Will as live television presenters
