One Direction heartthrob Harry Styles is "After" author Anna Todd’s inspiration behind her bad boy romance lead Hardin Scott, and according to the fan-fiction writer, he is also the quintessential man to star in the series' feature film adaptation. In light of the print debut of “After” Tuesday, the first installment in her popular online book series, Todd, 25, dished to E! News about her plans for the romance tale's on-screen debut (which was picked up by Paramount Pictures last week) naming the 20-year-old “What Makes You Beautiful” singer as her ideal leading man.

“I would love Harry to do it,” Todd recently told E! News.

Unfortunately for “After” fans also interested in seeing the British singer portray the brooding college student on-screen, he most likely won’t make the final cut. Despite Styles being the inspiration for the fictional character, Todd, who described Hardin as "grumpy" and "rude," said she doesn’t think Styles has the acting chops to pull off the part.

“I can’t image him getting into that kind of role. He is too sweet to play him,” she said.

If Styles isn't available, Todd said she would be willing to settle for another British celebrity to take his place, naming “Romeo & Juliet” (2013) and “Noah” actor Douglas Booth as her second choice. As for female lead Tessa Young, Todd said she wants “Blue Lagoon: The Awakening” made-for-TV movie actress Indiana Evans. Evans, 24, was first “cast” by Todd on Wattpad, the social platform for readers and writers which first featured her work.

“Indiana Evans was cast as Tessa when I was writing the fan fiction on Wattpad, so that’s who I would want to play Tessa. However, I trust the producers to pick the perfect Tessa,” she said.

Whether or not Todd’s casting picks are considered, fans can count on some of the book’s steamy love scenes to make the final cut.

“There are definitely sex scenes,” she said. “There is no S&M. They are regular sex scenes but very detailed. It’s the vanilla version of 'Fifty Shades of Grey!'"

“After” is the first installment of Todd’s series to be released in print. In June, Publisher’s Weekly reported that Todd, whose stories have recieved over one billion reads on Wattpad and counting, had secured a mid-six publishing deal with Simon & Schuster’s Gallery Books.

The series’ second book, “After We Collided,” will debut Nov. 18. “After We Fell" will be released in December. The last installment, “After Ever Happy,” will premiere in Feb. 2015.
