Prince Harry may follow in Prince William’s footsteps of being in the same room as Meghan Markle when she gives birth.

Patrick Knox, a journalist for The Sun, said that royal tradition actually prevents dads to be in the same room as their pregnant wives during their baby’s birth. This is because births are considered a female-only event.

However, the rules surrounding royal births have been relaxed after the birth of Prince Charles. This is also the reason why when Kate Middleton gave birth to her three children, Prince William stayed by her side.

According to the publication, Middleton traveled to St. Mary’s Hospital’s Lindo Wing on the morning of April 23, 2018, with Prince William. A few hours later, Kensington Palace released a statement announcing the arrival of Prince Louis.

Prince William stepped out of the hospital hours later to pick up his two older children, Prince George, and Princess Charlotte. The trio returned to the hospital on the same day so that the siblings could meet each other for the first time.

In 2013, Prince William was also present when Middleton gave birth to their first child, Prince George. A statement from Kensington Palace confirmed that the Duke of Cambridge was with his wife the entire time.

“The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 4.24 pm. The baby weight 8lbs 60z… The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth,” the statement read.

A similar statement was released by Kensington Palace after Princess Charlotte’s birth in 2015. By the looks of it, Prince Harry will also be there to witness the birth of his firstborn. After all, the Duke of Sussex wants to become a modern dad.

According to sources, Prince Harry is planning on having a two-week paternity leave after Markle gives birth. Even though this is a first among royal dads, Prince Harry’s friend is confident that the Queen would approve her grandson’s request.
