The rising Powerball jackpot is still up for grabs as no one took home the big prize in Wednesday night’s drawing, however, there were two instant millionaires of the night.

The winning numbers drawn for Wednesday, Jan. 6, were 1, 20, 22, 60, 66, with a red Powerball of 3. The Power Play was 3X.

The jackpot for Wednesday was $427.1 million with a cash option of $329.6 million, which has now grown to an estimated $470 million with a cash option of $362.7 million for the Saturday, Jan. 9 drawing.

So, what are the odds of winning?

A player's chance of securing a prize in Saturday's pull is no different than if the jackpot was less than $470 million, the lottery said. Even if the advertised jackpot is $40 million or $1 billion, every player has a 1 in 24.9 chance of winning some sort of prize, even if more tickets are sold for a particular drawing.

As for Wednesday's drawing, while no one walked away with the $427.1 million jackpot, two players won $1 million each for having the Match 5. Another 10 people won $150,000 for having the Match 4, Powerball, and 3X Power Play.

Several other players won smaller prizes that that ranged from $4 to $50,000. The lottery said a total of 1,942,397 people won some sort of prize in the latest drawing.

The Powerball lottery produced a number of big winners last year. Two Madison, Wisconsin, players won $22 million in June, and a player from Lansing, Michigan, won a $70 million jackpot in February. In January 2020, a Tallahassee, Florida, resident took home $396.9 million.

The Powerball is not the only lottery drawing that has reached the $450 million mark. The Mega Millions lottery has reached an estimated $490 million and will be drawn on Friday, Jan. 8, at 11 p.m. EST.
