A 42-year-old woman in Nevada has been arrested after allegedly stealing thousands of dollars from a dental office and extracting 13 teeth from a single victim despite not having a license to perform the procedure.

Laurel Eich, of Reno, faces multiple felonies after she allegedly broke into the dental office in Sun Valley, Nevada, on May 3 and stole cash and checks amounting to $22,861, according to a news release from the Washoe County Sheriff’s Office.

According to the sheriff's office, patrol deputies responded to an after-hours alarm call on May 3 at a dental office on Sun Valley Boulevard. They found a door ajar and a back window broken. Upon investigation, officers discovered that only a cash drawer was disturbed and that money and checks had been stolen.

Investigators identified Eich, an employee of the dental office, as a person of interest in the burglary.

During the probe, detectives learned that Eich performed 13 tooth extractions at an earlier date on one patient, whose name was not released by authorities.

Eich later admitted to detectives and "multiple people" that she performed the extractions, according to the news release. She also admitted to using anesthetic disposed of by the dentist's office.

The victim's condition following the medical procedure was not mentioned in the police statement.

Eich was arrested Wednesday on multiple felony charges including performing surgery on another without a license; burglary of a business, second (or more) offense; grand larceny greater than $5,000 but less than $25,000; and violation of probation or condition of a suspended sentence.

She was also charged with one gross misdemeanor count of conspiracy to commit burglary.

Eich is in custody in the Washoe County jail on a $20,000 bond.
