A Miami mom was charged with murder and two counts of attempted murder after she drowned her 15-month-old daughter in a bathtub and stabbed and injured her husband and stepdaughter when they tried to intervene.

Precious Leslie Bland, 38, was handed with one count of second-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder, and two counts of aggravated child abuse charges in Miami-Dade Court on Saturday, Law and Crime reported.

Authorities were called to Leslie's home located at NW 99th Street and NW 30th Avenue on Aug. 23 at around 9:00 p.m. ET. When deputies arrived, Precious' husband, Evan, met them at the door while visibly bleeding from multiple stab wounds to his head and neck, the outlet reported.

Evan told cops that Leslie, before killing the child, blabbered on about how COVID-19 was going to "kill us all." Evan said Leslie used to claim that Jesus Christ was coming and that she wanted to baptize her entire family in the bathtub.

Precious stabbed Evans and her teenage stepdaughter when they attempted to grab the toddler. Evans said Leslie used to remain disturbed due to the COVID-19 outbreak. "[Precious] was upset, stating that Jesus Christ is coming and COVID is going to kill us all," Evans told cops, according to Miami Herald. "[Precious] insisted everyone needed to be baptized and that she was going to baptize everyone in the bathtub."

Evans told cops that Precious filled up the bathtub and held the child, identified as Emii Bland, underwater until the latter died, according to an arrest report cited by Miami Herald. When Evans tried to intervene, Precious allegedly shouted for her 16-year-old daughter to bring a knife without explaining the reason. The teen handed the knife to Precious and the latter stabbed the girl in her forearms when she attempted to take Emii out of the bathtub.

The teenage girl and Evan were taken to a hospital where they were treated for their injuries. The police report said Emii lay with her "face down, unresponsive, inside the bathtub filled with bloody water."

Police said Precious was found with self-inflicted stab wounds. The child's death was ruled a homicide by The Miami-Dade Medical Examiner on Wednesday and the cause of death was determined as drowning.

Precious confessed to killing the child and stabbing her husband and stepdaughter, according to CBS 4.
