• Bill Goldberg is entertaining the possibility of facing the Mysterios with his son
  • Sources report that Goldberg is obligated to only wrestle twice in a calendar year
  • Fans have been iffy about his appearance on WWE programming

Bill Goldberg’s current WWE contract has one last match in it, and it could involve the father-son tag team of Rey and Dominik Mysterio.

In a conversation with Ring Rules at WWE’s Crown Jewel event in Saudi Arabia, Goldberg was asked whether he would consider facing the Mysterios to round out his career.

“Oh, you never know, you never know what the next day brings. So, if people want that, we’ll see if we can give them what they want. You never know,” the 55-year-old teased.

As noted by Marc Middleton of Wrestling Inc, Goldberg’s current WWE contract that runs through 2023 stipulates that he must wrestle two matches per year.

Having used up the two matches for 2021 with Drew McIntyre at the Royal Rumble in January and Bobby Lashley at Extreme Rules, it would seem that both parties either negotiated to borrow from one of his two matches slated for 2022 or drew up a special contract for Crown Jewel.

“I still feel as though I can wrestle, I still feel as though I can entertain. After this match, I have one more match on my contract, and that’s it. We’ll see what happens, you never know,” confirmed Goldberg.

His return to WWE has been a major cause for concern from fans as it was believed that his Survivor Series run-in with Brock Lesnar in 2016 was a one-off program.

To their dismay, the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion has made sporadic appearances since that event, with fans thinking that Goldberg’s involvement in or around the title picture has caused superstars to give way to him.

A program between him and his son, Gage, teaming up against the Mysterios could have some entertainment value within it as the tension has been building up between Dominik and Rey.

Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Radio hinted that “Dominik [Mysterio] does have to lose his matches for a while to get that frustration to do the turn,” as quoted by Ringside News.

Losing to the Goldbergs on a major pay-per-view could serve as the catalyst for the Mysterio feud while giving Goldberg and his son a night to remember.
