WWE set the stage for several SummerSlam 2018 matches during Extreme Rules Sunday night. With big wins from the likes of Bobby Lashley, AJ Styles and Alexa Bliss, the card for the year’s second-biggest show is shaping up.

We might have learned even more as a result of some key losses at the most recent pay-per-view. Daniel Bryan and Seth Rollins came up short in their respective championship matches, potentially meaning they’re headed for a couple of non-title SummerSlam matches that fans have been anticipating.

Brock Lesnar, John Cena and The Undertaker haven’t wrestled on TV in months, but it’s more than likely that all three will appear at the next PPV.

Here are predictions for the top matches at SummerSlam 2018:

Brock Lesnar vs. Bobby Lashley vs. Roman Reigns (Universal Championship)

Lashley earned his title shot by defeating Reigns clean at Extreme Rules in what was a de facto No.1 contender’s match. A singles match for the championship would make sense, but you know that WWE will try to get Reigns into the main event. WWE has been teasing another Lesnar-Reigns rematch ever since the two superstars fought at the Greatest Royal Rumble, and their multi-man Universal Championship match stole the show at last year’s SummerSlam. Don't be surprised if Braun Strowman uses his Money in the Bank briefcase to insert himself in the match, either before or during SummerSlam.

AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe (WWE Championship)

Take a look at the “SmackDown Live” roster and try to find a challenger to Styles that makes more sense than Joe. Styles has beaten Shinsuke Nakamura and Rusev in recent months. Daniel Bryan and The Miz seem to be headed toward a program of their own, and Randy Orton will probably be in the U.S. Title picture. Joe is as good as anyone on the blue brand, and a match between himself and Styles might be the best on the SummerSlam card.

John Cena vs. The Undertaker

Cena has made one WWE TV appearance since losing to The Undertaker at WrestleMania, but you can be sure he’ll be on the second-biggest card of 2018. The Undertaker continues to wrestle at big events outside of WrestleMania, meaning he’ll likely be on the card in Brooklyn, as well. Since neither superstar is currently involved in a storyline, a rematch against one another makes the most sense. Cena has something to prove after the Deadman basically squashed him on WWE’s biggest stage, and he could win in August to set up a rubber match in the not-too-distant future.

Daniel Bryan vs. The Miz

All signs point to Bryan and The Miz meeting in the ring at SummerSlam. It’s a feud that deserves a WrestleMania match, though Bryan’s unknown contract status beyond September means the two will probably face off next month. When Bryan was medically cleared, The Miz was sent to “SmackDown Live” in April to set up this match. The feud was escalated further when The Miz pinned Bryan during a qualifier for Money in the Bank. Team Hell No’s defeat at Extreme Rules means Bryan won’t be involved in the tag team title picture anymore.

Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose

There’s been no indication on WWE TV that this match will happen. Ambrose hasn’t been around in 2018 because of an injury, and his return remains unknown. But WWE had Rollins lose his Intercontinental Championship and the subsequent iron man match at Extreme Rules for a reason: the company has big plans for arguably the hottest babyface on “Monday Night Raw.” That could mean getting a Universal Championship shot or a non-title match against one of WWE’s biggest stars, though a feud with a newly-heel Ambrose makes the most sense.

Alexa Bliss vs. Ronda Rousey (Raw Women’s Championship)

This has clearly been the direction since Bliss cashed in her Money in the Bank briefcase to regain the title. She’s one of the best talkers in the company, and Rousey has been terrific in the ring since signing with WWE. SummerSlam could be the start of Rousey’s first title reign, which ultimately culminates with a main event match at WrestleMania 35.
